When I logged in SL for the first time, in August 2007, I absolutely loved the concept, from the beginning.
However, no matter how hard I tried, there were not many places I'd like to have as my SL home, back then. So, why not buy my own land and have my home there? Ficcionista and I started with a 1024 sqm parcel. Tested houses, landscaping, visited many places in SL that could be inspirational. Somewhere , in this process, I got to a Japanese place. I knew that I had hit the jackpot! That's what I wanted to do in SL: give other Second Lifers the chance to live in a place like that!
We found a beautiful parcel (and huge by the way) by the ocean. There we were. Nightingale's had started. That was Meins sim, which we learned later by our neighbours, that Meins is part of the oldest mainland sims in SL; calling it part of "the old continent".
Since then, we have had close to 200 residents in mainland - Benicia and Meins sims. It has been quite an experience! Nightingale's Estates were created to be peaceful, a place where people could feel like home, safe! Nowadays, the Japanese "environments" in SL became fashionable, and I'm glad!
We have 5 years experience in SL, as landowners.
With that experience, Nightingale's Estates is now one of the best Japanese areas to live in SL. There are some things we require from our residents: to respect their homes, respect the neighbours and live peacefully.
If I see a small clue of eventual drama situations, then, the residents are asked to leave. It has happened before and we are really proud we could keep the best residents, amazing people, that after years of living at Nightingale's, we can call friends!
